Beaches (and Balm for our Sunkissed Wounds)

It’s mid-September and those of us who long for an endless summer are already deep in mourning! Halloween cards, scarecrows and giant spiders with hairy limbs have already taken up space on store shelves where beach chairs, umbrellas  and coolers used to live.  And that’s not the worst of it – commercials full of snowflakes and Christmas carols have the nerve to  rub salt into our sun-kissed wounds! A certain, beloved phrase comes to mind, one often quoted by lovers of cocktails and grog  the world over: “It’s five o’clock somewhere!” And so it is for beaches. Even in the deep freeze of January, there is sun, sand and sea somewhere in the world. Take a look at a few of my favorites – I’ll show you mine; please share your own!

    • You’re very welcome! Before we know it, the time of year will be upon us when we’ll need all the vicarious warmth we can get! 🙂

  3. Beautiful shots! Thanks for sharing. Here are a few pics of my favourite beach on earth – Gillam Bay, in Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas. http://littlehousebytheferry.com/2013/04/27/gillam-bay-green-turtle-cay/

    • Your photos are spectacular – I can see why Gilliam Bay would be your favorite. It’s certainly the kind of place I long for in winter!
